About Sasha’s Bill
Sasha’s Bill (AB 655/SB 659) is named in memory of Sasha Rosen, a 17-year-old Madison high school senior killed in February 2026 by a speeding driver. Sasha’s bill requires that a person convicted of a second or subsequent reckless driving violation (in a 5-year period where the violations involved speeding 20 or more miles per hour over the speed limit) receive a speed limiter in his or her car or light truck.

Who To Send It To
Send your postcard to your Wisconsin state representative or state senator. Click here to find your legislator.

Dear [Representative/Senator LAST NAME],

  • I live on [street name in X part of Madison, etc], and I am urging you to support  Sasha’s Bill (AB 655/SB 659) to make our roads safer.
  •  The bill’s namesake, Sasha Rosen, was killed by a speeding driver while crossing the street. He  was just one of hundreds of people killed on Wisconsin roads this year.
  • Sasha’s bill would allow courts to install speed limiters in the cars of “super speeders” – extreme speeders  responsible for a disproportionate number of traffic deaths.
  • This law is necessary because approximately 75% of drivers with suspended licences continue to drive anyway. Similar legislation has been passed in eight states already.
  • Please support this bill. For Sasha, and for all of us.

Thank you,

FIND OUT HOW

There is no better way to advocate than to simply show there is a demand for safe, walkable and bikeable streets.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Ride to work or school a certain number times each week or month.
  • Ride or walk whenever it’s above a certain temperature.
  • Walk or ride a certain distance each week.
  • Decide that you’ll only ride or walk to a certain nearby stores or shops.
  • Look up a bus route – take it!
  • Connect with a local bike or walking group, join a community ride, or find a new route to explore.

Be the change!
