Ride for Your Life 2025
A 10-mile ride and rally remembering those lost to traffic -- and demanding better.
Because our streets belong to everyone.

A 10-mile ride and rally remembering those lost to traffic -- and demanding better.
Because our streets belong to everyone.

Begun after the death of mother and U.S. diplomat Sarah Debbink Langenkamp, the Ride for Your Life is a 10-mile slow ride (map) from Downtown Bethesda to the Lincoln Memorial dedicated to creating change on our roadways.
Marking World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we will rally at the memorial with safe streets leaders and members of Congress to demand better — better infrastructure and better laws — for all those who use our roads.
At Ride For Your Life, we are passionate about making biking, walking, and all forms of transportation safe for everyone. Our rides memorialize those lost in traffic crashes, ending with rallies at iconic locations demanding more from our leaders. Post Rides have attracted thousands or riders in Washington, D.C.; Boulder Colorado; Madison, WI; Boston, MA; and Sasketoon, Canada. The 2025 ride is the eighth ride to date.
With local, state and national elected officials and civic leaders attending, Rides have resulted in a new law in Maryland that better protects cyclists in bike lanes, two bills in the U.S. Congress, and national media attention, generating urgently needed focus upon the crisis on our roadways.
More than 40,000 people died on American roads last year, including 1,166 people biking, the most in history.
In concert with our 2025 ride, we and our coalition partners have drafted a letter associated to Washington-area and national leaders demanding change. One of our ride's key demands is passage in Congress of the Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Active Transportation Safety Act, which would give states more flexibility in using Federal Highway funds to build safe biking and walking infrastructure. Ensure your member of Congress hears your voice by clicking on this action alert to express support for Sarah's bill. It only takes a few seconds!
Local proposals include legislation to create a pilot program in Maryland to use intelligent speed assistance technology in the cars of "super-speeders" to match new laws in D.C. and Virginia, and speed camera legislation in Virginia.
Please spread the word! Share this page to ensure our voice is loud and clear on November 16!
