Our asks this year derived from our partnerships with Wisconsin Bike Fed, Families for Safe Streets, and the League of American Bicyclists.
WISCONSIN
At the state-level, we are asking for support of Sasha’s Bill (AB 655 / SB 659) in the Wisconsin Legislature, which would allow judges to require those found guilty of reckless driving and repeated or extreme speeding to use GPS-enabled intelligent speed devices in their cars. This bill pays tribute to Sasha Rosen, a promising senior at West High School in Madison, who was senselessly killed on Feb. 5, 2026, by a speeding driver.
The bill addresses key challenges:
1. Almost 30 percent of all roadway deaths involve speeding.
2. A disproportionate number of roadway deaths are caused by "super-speeders" (people who rack up multiple speeding tickets or who are caught at least 20 miles per hour over the speed limit).
3. Nearly 75% of those whose licenses are suspended continue to drive ANYWAY.
This technology addresses this issue, while allowing people to still use a vehicle for their needs.
NATIONWIDE
At the national level, we are urging participants to take part in this Action Alert urging members of Congress to protect current federal funding bicycle infrastructure and vote "no" on any effort to defund it. Action Alert
Conducted by our partner, the League of American Bicyclists, this alert will allow you to send a message straight to your Senators and Representatives in Washington, D.C.
We will also urge passage of the Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Active Transportation Safety Act (HR 2011/S 944), a bipartisan bill in the U.S. Congress which would give states more flexibility in using federal transportation funds in building safe biking and walking infrastructure. Sarah, who died bicycling in 2022, inspired the Ride for Your Life movement.
