Washington DC
- First Ride For Your Life; rally at US Congress
- Nearly 2,000 participants; largest safe streets event to date in Washington, DC
- Helps unlock $50M in appropriations for the Active Transportation Infrastructure Improvement Program
- Advocacy campaigns to improve truck safety with side guards and use of advanced driver assistance systems for large trucks such as blind spot monitors.
2023
Expansion
- Madison, Saskatoon, DC
- Introduction of Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Active Transportation Safety Act in US Congress (2022 ride ask)
2024
National Growth
- Boston, Boulder, Saskatoon, DC
- Passage of Sarah Debbink Langenkamp Memorial Safety Act in Maryland (commitment from 2023 ride)
- Introduction in US Congress of Magnus White Cyclist Safety Act to require Automatic Emergency Braking systems sensitive to cyclists in all new cars (commitment from 2024 ride)
- Ride advocacy campaigns to allow cities and towns to install automated cameras for traffic enforcement in (MA), speed biking and pedestrian infrastructure development (CO), and increase penalties for drivers who kill or seriously injure vulnerable road users (CO).
2025 - 2026
Formalizing the Movement
- Boston, Saskatoon, DC
- Ride for Your Life established as a 501(c)(3) organization
- Founder Dan Langenkamp given James L. Oberstar Award for bicycle safety advocacy at the March 2026 Bicycle Leadership Conference in Dana Point, California
- Passage of Stop Super Speeders Act (HB107/SB366) (2025 Ride Ask) in Maryland.
